A Barbour EHS Writer Case Study
Charlotte Peers - Chartered Chemist, Chartered Scientist and Member of the Institute of Wastes Management.
Currently I work as a waste consultant writing waste strategy reports for Metropolitan Borough Councils, and copy-editor and proof reader of books and journals. I have also been involved in business continuity planning and in the health and safety arrangements of contractors.
Working with the Barbour EHS team is ideal as I am able to write and verify a wide range of material including technical guides on environmental, health and safety hot topics, resources such as director’s briefings and employee factsheets, case law and weekly briefings. I particularly enjoy writing for the briefings, which allows me to write on one of my passions, keep professionally up-to-date with legislation and at the same time helping to keep Barbour’s customers informed.
After graduating from the University of Sussex with a BSc in Environmental Science I spent time working in South Africa in air and water pollution control for the South African Government. Returning to the UK I developed my career in waste management, first as a regulator with the London Waste Regulation Authority then as the Cleansing Manager at Crawley Borough Council and also heading up the Waste Disposal Authority for Avon County Council. I found that keeping on top of legislation was a real chore and so I always appreciated concise and authoritative sources of information.
What a wonderful and satisfying way of utilizing my registration as a Chartered Chemist, Chartered Scientist and Member of the Institute of Wastes Management.
